Use wdiff manual for how to use it on Linux. Geany has a large number of features which is useful for use, below is the list of few basic features: To install wdiff on your Linux systems, run: yum install wdiff On Cent. This tutorial will help you to install Geany IDE on Ubuntu 18.04 & 16.04 Desktop systems. AS Geany only uses GTK2 toolkit and therefore you need only the GTK2 runtime libraries to run. The file comparison merge function is a little confusing at first, but after a while you’ll get used to it. I haven't tested this PPA, so maybe you should only install meld from it (see How do I cherry pick packages from a PPA) and see if it works. However, it also includes backports of a large number of other packages.

It will still allow you to compare files, directory and merge changes. There is a PPA which includes Meld 3.18 for Ubuntu 14.04: jonathonf/backports. Geany has few of dependencies from other packages so its easier to install. To install it in ubuntu: sudo apt-get install meld. It was developed to provide a small and faster IDE for users for editing files. Geany is a lightweight IDE (Integrated Development Environment) using the GTK2 toolkit.
